    Description

    Here's a rare "NO 1" pontiled blackglass Dr.Townsend's Sarsaparilla bottle that we dug several years ago from an 1845-1855 outhouse privy pit....

    bold emb on 3 sides....Scratchy rough big ball pontil scar on sunken bottom.....applied tapered collar....dark olive green blackglass....square...9 1/4"tall...Excellent condition with only one small shallow flake on top of lip; no other damage. It has a smooth natural dip in the top of lip from when it was made I guarantee. This is just the way it was when the bottle was dug from the ground. A nice clean bottle . A great looking early colored pontil medicine bottle with bold embossing and the rare "NO 1" mold variant....I had this bottle in my personal collection and have decided to sell it, since we have several Townsend bottles
