The legends that surround dragons originated in ancient Mesopotamia. Since then, those legends have been passed on all over the world in literature, paintings and statues. In ancient India, the dragon Naga combines good and evil, while in China there remains a widely held astrological belief that an Azure Dragon is one of the so-called four deities that protect the four directions on a compass.
When designing the pens to commemorate their 95th anniversary, an image was drawn of free spirit and vitality rising towards the heavens for the 'Rising Dragon' to incorporate Pilot's wish for further progress in people's lifestyles. A cloud bearing beneficial rain was added along with the 'Dragon' motif in hopes to bring to people the blessings of many others.
In celebrating their 95th anniversary, Pilot applied all the advanced techniques and traditional Maki-e craft techniques they have accumulated over the years to produce two remarkable creations. The Emperor is limited to 95 pieces and is definitely a must own for serious Maki-e enthusiasts.
This pen has never been used and is in perfect condition, it comes with original documents and presentation boxes. It has a Medium solid 18k gold nib. Our images accurately represent product for sale!
