    Description

Pewter Historical Belt Buckle that displays the
    Municipal Symbol
of the French City of Nimes.
It has some words in French on the back. I believe they include the words Dupondius (meaning ancient Roman coin) and Nimes. Please see pictures of these.
In the beginning, a coin was made to symbolize how the Roman army led by Octavian (Augustus), conquered the Egyptian armies of Antony and Cleopatra during the Battle of Actium.  It depicted an alligator (Egypt) chained to a palm tree.  This coin was updated to the current version and this symbol was adopted as the municipal symbol, which can be seen all over the city.
Very good condition. Please see pics.
