OWL DRUG SODA “TEAL” COLOR BLOB-TOP 1890s.
The photos do little justice to this late 1890s “CITRATE of MAGNESIA” OWL DRUG bottle. The color is amazing as it is what I would call a Greenish/Blue. This is probably from the last of the old Blob-Tops produced before the crown top ABM took over in the early 1900s. This outstanding example is 9 1/4 inches tall and 2 3/4 inches at the base. Notice that the thickness is rather thin on one side which is nice. On the back it has a slight imperfection in the glass and appears like a scar about 3/8 inches long and smooth to the touch. I do not believe it is from being struck from a probe as that would have caused a crack. This one I dug in Contra Costa Co. California in the 1970s and has been in my collection many years. A faint scar is on the blob-top as well. This may sound as though this bottle has some issues but I can assure you they are very minor in nature. I always want to point out ANY imperfections so you know what you are buying. This is a very desirable OWL and very, very clean with no cracks or chips and will obviously stand proudly in your OWL DRUG collection. The points I made are very minor in my opinion. Thanks, David
