OPEN PONTIL ALE 1850s 1860s UNEMBOSSED. Condition is "Used". Shipped with USPS Priority Mail. This bottle was dug up beneath the streets of San Francisco in the financial district in the late 1960s. This type of bottle may have contained an Ale perhaps. Take a close look at this one as it is an early 3 piece mold with an outstanding applied lip which is typical of these early bottles. Very nice whittle is seen on this amazing 10 inch thin aqua glass. The open pontil is fairly smooth but it is sharp and the base is rather deep which is also typical of early ale bottles, most of the ale bottles from that era are black glass. This is truly a remarkable bottle with many small bubbles with a nice elongated bubble in this long neck example. There are no cracks or chips etc and very clean and nice. Bottles like this are Scarce in my opinion after digging and collecting for over 40 years. I hope you might enjoy adding this to your collection David
