insurance.   We do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate.  If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates.  We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
This is a super pretty little antique face cream jar.  These come in two sizes, this is the smaller size, and there is also an INGRAM'S SHAVING CREAM jar that looks just like this, but is a DEEP COBALT BLUE color!   What puts this one up at the top of its class is the spelling mistake (backwards 'N') and the color is truly exceptional, a PURPLE MILK GLASS colored jar that looks like it is OPAL OPAQUE or OPALIZED in color.
About the opaque purple color.   This color is the result of this jar being made with manganese-glass.  Manganese is a mineral, a rock, that was mined, crushed, and pulverized into a powder, then added to vats of liquid glass and acted as a decolorizing agent to turn the natural aqua-tinted glass into a pure crystal clear colorless glass.   From the vat of clear glass, other ingredients were added such as TIN or ZINC, to make it / turn it into a WHITE milk glass.  Once the glass was blown into a vessel and exposed to the ultraviolet rays of the sun or other sources of UV rays, it triggers a chemical reaction and the manganese oxidizes and turns a wonderful amethyst color.  This little jar was run through an industrial food sterilizer, a safe and permanent process which does the same thing as exposure to natural sunlight, except much faster.  Though some may suggest that this lavender color has been artificially produced or altered, the only thing that is artificial or altered is the time it took to turn purple.   Whether glass has turned purple by the sun, by UV rays in a box, or by a sterilization process, they all turn the same purple color as it is all the same chemical reaction taking place.
Most importantly, only glass from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst.   Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make this a great looking little jar, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique,
