    Description

Dr. Edward Hartshorn was a physician who lived from 1817-1887.   In 1840, he graduated from Harvard Medical School, and set up his practice in Berlin, Massachusetts.
He started his business in 1850, making syrups and "Family Medicines".  They included syrup of rhubarb, Unadulterated Paregoric, Sarsaparilla and Iron, and Hartshorn's Cough Balsam, and many more concoctions.  In 1867, he moved his business to Boston, and was there for over 10 years, at least.  When he became ill, his sons took over the business.
This is a beautiful embossed medicine bottle.   On the face, the embossed lettering states, "E. Hartshorn & Sons Boston, Mass. Established 1850".  The bottom simply has a "2".
The bottle is in good condition. It is very clear with a bit of dirt inside.  The lettering is perfect.  It has absolutely no chips or cracks.  The bottle is 5" tall and 2" around.
