insurance. We do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
It is interesting to note that many cures and remedies from a century ago are things that we are now finding out about that may NOT of been so good for us.
CREOSOTE CAPSULE Formula?
For a long time creosote had been used as a
preservative and antiseptic,
an anesthetic, astringent, expectorant, and laxative,
b
ut research
today has determined that coal-tar creosote is carcinogenic to humans.
Scientists doing studies on coal and wood tar creosote, have found that
creosote is much more hazardous than originally thought. Besides the carcinogenic/cancer concerns there is strong evidence that creosote can actually damage your vision, its fumes can cause
severe respiratory issues as well as digestive problems, and
cause inflammation to the mouth, nose, and throat.
Further reports indicate that brief exposure to LARGE amounts of coal tar creosote may result in a rash or severe irritation of the skin, chemical burns of the surfaces of the eye,
kidney AND liver problems,
convulsions, mental confusion, unconsciousness, AND even DEATH! And yet
here we have an antique bottle that at one time held capsules of the stuff that reports now show can cause
convulsions, mental confusion, unconsciousness, AND even death, t
o be taken internally!
No wonder many of these old patent medicines were referred to as 'QUACK' medicines and, up until about 1900, the companies producing such things were not regulated or kept in check by any government agencies! Besides all of this blah blah blah about the creosote capsules and the patent medicine industry, this is just a great looking antique bottle, a
