    Description

This sale includes a pale blue aqua, smooth base, inward rolled lip, square, medicine bottle from R. McDonald & Sons, Rush's Syrup, White Mustard that stands almost 5 inches tall and looks like it should have a pontil. I believe this is a New Brunswick, NJ bottle for several reasons. First, McDonald was known for a McDonald's Annihilator, a NB, NJ OP medicine bottle. I have excavated several pontil and smooth base examples of the Annihilator and the Rush's Syrup White Mustard in New Brunswick and only New Brunswick. Neither of the examples have New Brunswick embossed in the glass but McDonald can be found in NB business directories from the 1850s. Regardless of its origin, this is a scarce, early and attractive medicine bottle that is not often offered for sale. Please see the Condition Description above for additional detail.
