This "MUSICAL BLACKBIRD PIE" was made by Mattel in 1953. It is about 8" in diameter and made entirely of brightly colored tin with a plastic red "cherry" on top. Inside the pie are 5 plastic BLACKBIRDS which are firm, solid, complete, and all are original! Wind the crank on the side to play a song, and at the end of the song, all 5 blackbirds will pop out of the pie. To repeat, push the red cherry down to return the blackbirds back into the pie. Turn the crank again, play the loud song, and the black birds will pop out again. WORKS PERFECTLY. The pie is in great condition, with NO rust, dents, scratches, and has been carefully refurbished, cleaned, and is very glossy. It has been well cared for, with normal play wear, light edge wear and a few scattered tiny nicks, as expected due to the nature of use and play over the past 68 years. The colors are extremely clean, bright, crisp, and glossy with absolutely NO rust. touch-up, or fading. The beautiful top of the pie looks like a real homemade cherry pie, with a lithographed crust, with ripples, and very rich colors.
