insurance. We do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
What an
unusual looking DR. MILES bottle
in this oval shape with large oval indented front panel?! It must of been a week long treatment and every day a portion was consumed down to the next line, until it was gone which would of been '7 DAYS'. An all around attractive bottle, crowned by the grape-purple color. You hear about old glass turning purple ... this purple color is
the result of having 'manganese' (a mineral) in the glass. The manganese was mined, then pulverized into a fine dry powder, then stirred into vats of molten hot liquid glass. It acted as a decolorizing agent, to clarify the natural aqua-marine colored glass into a clear, colorless glass. Then the liquid glass was blown into a vessel. Whether it was realized or not, once the finished vessel was exposed to the u
ltraviolet rays of the sun (or other sources) a chemical reaction takes place over time and the manganese oxidizes and turns this wonderful purple amethyst color. With few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst.
Here is a great looking example of this. Not only does this color complement this bottle, but it also authenticates it as a
