JACKSONVILLE ILL, Open Pontil 1840's DR. HAMILTONS COUGH BALSAM

Here is a Very Rare and Early Open Pontil Medicine from a Jacksonville Illinois Company. This bottle was a Product of Dr. William Hamilton who first started advertising his medicines in 1842. By the style of this it looks to be one of his earlier bottles. It is an Oval shaped bottle embossed on one side with "DR. HAMILTON'S" and on the other side with "COUGH BALSAM" It has large crude letters on each side. This exact bottle is the one that was used for the photo on page 526 of BOTTLED IN ILLINOIS, the Bible for early Illinois bottles. This bottle measures 5 & 1/2 inches tall. Super Crude Inward rolled lip with several pieces of debris within. A couple little smooth dips, one small spot, very small looks like a possible resin fill but I have looked at it under magnification and cannot be certain.
