Description
Featured in this auction is a sweet little cabinet vase made by Camark Pottery of Camden, Arkansas. Apologies for the light reflections in my photos. This lovely vase is in excellent condition with no chips, no cracks, some light crazing and no repairs. However, I did find a tiny glaze flake just at the base rim edge. This piece shows evidence of having been handworked including molding at the top rim and smoothing of the clay inside. The mold seams are just visible, and there are also tiny glaze pops and pinholes. This pottery is unmarked but most likely dates to the 1930's or 1940's. It probably had a foil or paper Camark label when it was produced. The stilt marks from the kiln are visible. The vase is identified in theCollector's Guide to Camark Pottery
by David E. Gifford as shape number 125. This piece is almost 4-1/2" tall, about 4-3/4" wide at the shoulder, and 3" wide at the top rim opening. This gorgeous, high-gloss glaze was actually given a number by Camark, finish number 20, called "Chamois Yellow". The glaze drips of bright yellow have produced a beautiful finish. The piece is very clean but believed to have been gently used. Check out all 8 photos! This stunning vase would look amazing in your favorite display cabinet. It would also be perfect for any Camark or American art pottery collector. Check out my other pottery listings!
