as they are more commonly referred to. This lid and the design which it features, is considered by knowledgeable & experienced American pot lid collector's, to be possibly the
earliest of the American pot lids
that have currently been identified. It dates to
pre-Civil Wa
r period
....possibly around
1850
....making it around
170 years old

and was one of the earliest "perfumers" and pharmacists in the

. He also trading in early seltzer water and mineral & soda waters. (see pic 4)
Just a great piece of Americana to add to a "pot lid" collection, or to display individually in it's own right!
