Dawson & Mary Gillaspy Signed Vintage Folk Art Painted Tin Seesaw Toy With Horse, Girl, & Bell!
For sale we have a vintage folk art tin toy, having a seesaw with a girl on one end and a horse on the other.
There is a bell that rings as the seesaw rolls form one side to the other!
This is a handmade and hand painted tin toy designed and made by Dawson and Mary Gillaspy of Oley, Berks County, Pennsylvania.
It is signed with their distinctive monogram on the base. Their business, known as “Tin By Gillaspys,” was known all across the country.
They were chosen as one of the top 100 Craftsmen in the
Early American Magazine
Poll.
The Gillaspys retired in the late 1990’s, so this is a limited item on today’s open market.
It is in very good condition, with wear consistent with its age and use.
