Description
This cowgirl tolerates no foolishness! Pointing her pistol at the camera she looks like she knows how to use it. She is dressed in leather with a gunbelt at her waist and a stetson on her head. This original vintage Albertype postcard is over 100 years old (copyright 1907), and was published by photographer George B. Cornish of Arkansas City, Kansas. Arkansas City, usually called Ark City, is just North of the Oklahoma border near the famous 101 Ranch, where Cornish photographed many of the ranch cowboys and cowgirls and Indians. There is noway to know for sure, but in all likelihood this young woman was a working cowgirl from the ranch or a performer in the famous 101 Ranch Wild West Show. Cornish's Albertype postcards and prints were sold as souvenirs at the Wild West Show and remain popular as first hand images of people and life on the frontier. The card is titled, "True Girl of the West".The card is unused, fresh and clean with sharp corners. Postcards are carefully packaged for protection and shipped promptly. Shipping can be combined.
