domestic shipping. We ship International but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
What a beautiful looking bowl in this shade of sun colored amethyst! T
his bowl was originally sold at a Rexall Drug Store, possibly as
a fish bowl
to keep gold fish in. You see this today, Gold fish, Siamese Fighting fish or even guppies, being kept in a small bowl like this as pets. Or it
possibly could of been in the store and contained leeches in it, a leech bowl. Since it is from more than a century ago and since it is advertising a "DRUG" store, we are thinking it was a Leech bowl, as leech's back then were sold for medicinal purposes, at drug stores. We are not sure. But we do know that these
old REXALL bowls aren't commonly found, especially the
older
original ones like this one with the
amethyst color to it. It is an older one for sure as w
ith few exceptions, only clear glass from before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make it
a very attractive looking bowl but it also authenticates it as being truly antique,
and a nice one at that
