domestic shipping. We do ship International but we do NOT insure International orders unless buyer specifically requests this and we are able to provide an insurance estimate. If an international shipping charge is much more than the actual shipping cost, we will refund the excess so what YOU pay for shipping/insurance is very close to, if not exactly, the ACTUAL shipping costs! This is important for foreign buyers to know as most of our foreign shipping charges are estimates. We do not falsify information on the Customs Form, such as a price other than what the actual purchase price is, so please do not request us to do so. We ship several times a week and your prompt payment will hasten the turn-around time.
A great looking old west bottle with the ROUNDUP - MONT embossing, and in the LARGE QUART SIZE to boot.
This is the LARGEST size that these old bottles were made in, a true LUNKER,
BEHEMOTH
or
LEVIATHAN
sized bottle, to be sure. If I caught a trout this large, I would have to have it mounted. This bottle is from one of, if not the best,
OLD WESTERN sounding towns on the map today, "Roundup, Montana". You RARELY find
LARGE quart sized EMBOSSED drug store bottles anywhere as few of them were made - and even fewer of them have survived the rigors of time as they were so susceptible to breakage in
this EXAGGERATED size
. Then there is the
DARK PURPLE color. Y
ou hear about old glass turning purple in the sunlight ...
this bottle has been exposed to a high heat/light source to enrich the purple color that would naturally occur if exposed to sun light for a prolonged period of time.
One of the great things about this purple color is how much better you can read the embossing.
With a clear glass bottle, you see through it, and the embossing reflects what ever patterns and colors are in the background. Yet with this deep purple color, you are looking, not through the glass but right AT the embossing, which accentuates it and makes every letter stand out; literally. It gives the embossing a whole other dimension.
Only old bottles made before 1914 will turn sun-colored-amethyst. Not only does this deep purple/amethyst color make it a great looking bottle, but it also authenticates it as being truly antique!
