Antique C.W. Merchant Chemist Lockport, NY Aqua Mold Medicine Bottle Iron Pontil

For your consideration this week is an antique C.W. Merchant Chemist (Lockport, NY) cylindrical medicine bottle, c 1850.
Standing 7.5” tall and measuring approximately 3-1/4” in diameter, this fabulous bottle is made of aqua-green, two-piece molded glass with applied lip and iron pontil. There are some air bubbles here and there, and the kind of irregularities you’d expect from a bottle from this time.
The bottle is free of chips, cracks and flea bites. This piece was found in an estate pick in the barn of a Delaware farm built in the late 1770s and as such, it was filthy. You’ll see that there are still some dried leaves and critters inside that I was unable to rinse out…maybe you’ll have better luck cleaning it!
