1870's CHINESE OPIUM BOTTLE FOUND NEAR IDAHO CITY, IDAHO -- GREAT CONDITION!

Description

Auction is for this authentic 1870's Chinese opium bottle found by my family in the 1960's near Idaho City, Idaho.    Length is 2" & weight is 0.8 oz.    It has a sheared-lip common to this bottle type, but the raised area for the mouth is 1/4" shorter, than I usually see on these.    Since the lip is ground, it was made that way.
The bottle has a huge number of bubbles, which give it character.   Under 7-X magnification I note a few light scratches & a tiny amount of light stain.
Idaho City was the center of a huge placer-gold mining area & started up in the early 1860's.    By the 1870's the best placer deposits were mined-out & hard-working Chinese miners swarmed into the area to mine deposits white miners found unprofitable.   The Chinese also opened laundries, & restaurants, & grew produce to sell in nearby communities.    I'll be glad to share jpegs of the last two photos of Idaho City Chinese with the auction winner.   My email will be on your packing list.
