An early smooth base Mrs.Winslow's Soothing Syrup bottle from the 1860s with rolled in lip.....this "Soothing Syrup" was a dangerous narcotic based infant teething syrup that resulted in the deaths of many babies in the 1800s by opium overdose, thus earning it the notorious nickname of "baby killer" by many. There were no government controls or laws against selling narcotic drugs in those days, and also no statistics kept on deaths from overdose, so we will never know how many infants and adults died as a result of using these powerful and dangerous patent medicines.....
