Pitch -Â measured as distance between repeating rivets and divided by 2.
Gauge - thickness of the drive tooth or thickness of the groove in the bar.   Typical values are .050 ", .043, .058 and .063.
Drive Link - Is the number of drive teeth, not cutters on the chain.  They can be easily counted.
Bar Information - Typically the bar on the saw has printing or stamping that lists the pitch, gauge and drive link count of the chain it requires.   Bars are mounted to the saw with a unique slot and hole configuration called the mounting style or type.  There are a fair number of variations even within brands.    The standard mountings are typically noted in a Oregon style as an adopted industry standard.   Example : This chain is typically found on a 16" bar using an AO41 mounting.
These 4 pieces of information are critical to getting the right chain for you saw.  We strongly recommend you do not buy a chain based on model or bar length. It typically results in buying the wrong chain.
